Dearsan Shipyard proudly announces the successful launch of Q52 AL GHARIYAH, the second vessel of the 50-meter Guided Missile Attack Craft (MAC-50) project built for the Qatar Emiri Navy, on February 14, 2026.The vessels are optimized for effective operations in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and Arabian Sea. The launch of AL GHARIYAH represents not only an engineering achievement but also a strong symbol of the strategic partnership and defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Qatar. Under the contract signed in Doha on June 21, 2023, two Guided Missile Attack Crafts are being constructed. The first vessel, Q51 AL WAKRAH, was launched in November 2025. With the launch of AL GHARIYAH, another significant milestone has been achieved.

The Missile Attack Crafts are 50.76 m long with a beam of 9.53 m and a draught of 2.10 m. They have a top speed of 36 kt and a range of approximately 1,000 n miles. The vessels are armed with Çakır surface-to-surface missiles. Çakır is a new generation cruise missile that can be launched from land, sea and air platforms with a range of more than 150 km (93 mi), designed by Turkish rocket and missile manufacturer Roketsan. The missile, which can act in coordination with different platforms thanks to its network-based data link, allows route update, target change and mission cancellation during flight depending on the user’s choice. It also has the ability to dodge while cruising. The missile, which has terrain following technology, can fly close to the water surface.

The vessels are Protected Sungur air-defence missiles. Sungur (Falcon’) is a Turkish fifth-generation fire-and-forget short range air defense (SHORAD) and man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) developed by Roketsan as Turkey’s first domestically produced MANPADS. The Sungur system has a maximum range of 8 kilometers, which is considered the longest among comparable systems. It utilizes an imaging infrared seeker that enables lock-on before launch. The missile is equipped with a high-explosive, partial-piercing warhead and employs a direct attack profile to minimize flight time. Their main gun is a 40 mm Leonardo Marlin, supported by two Aselsan Stamp-2 12.7 mm remote weapon stations (RWSs) and two manually operated 12.7 mm machine guns for close-range protection.

Dearsan officials said the company is ready to begin negotiations for an additional three missile boats, which could expand the programme into a five-ship class. Work will continue through the production and systems integration phases until the boats are delivered to Qatar, where they are scheduled to go into service in mid-2027. Dearsan is a prominent Turkish shipyard established in 1980, specializing in the design and construction of modern naval vessels, including corvettes, fast attack craft (MAC 50), mine countermeasure vessels, and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). Located in Istanbul, it is a key defense contractor known for delivering specialized, high-tech vessels to Turkey and international navies. Dearsan has delivered over 150 military and commercial naval platforms and remains committed to enhancing the naval capabilities of allied and partner nations.
