Augsburg, July 15, 2025 – RENK Group AG, a leading supplier of drive solutions for military and civil applications, is supplying a further 42 HSWL-256B gear units for the Hunter infantry fighting vehicle to Latvia. The Baltic state is thus exercising its option for additional transmissions shortly after placing its initial order. The HUNTER platform, based on the British AJAX / ASCOD family. This brings the total number of transmissions ordered from Latvia alone to 84. The expansion of the order underscores the NATO country’s great confidence in RENK’s product portfolio. The HSWL-256B is already in service in British Armed Forces vehicles and has proven itself in the field of mission-critical drive technology.

The transmissions is primarily used in the 35 to 45 tonne weight class and impresses with its 800 kW (1100 hp), robustness and compact design. At the beginning of the month, RENK added two new countries to its existing customer base for the AJAX gearbox with Latvia and another international partner. The transmissions will be manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Augsburg, with delivery scheduled to begin in 2026. General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has signed a €387 million contract to deliver 42 Hunter Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) to the Latvian Ministry of Defence.
