Elbit Systems Awarded $300 Million Contract to Supply Armored Vehicle Systems to Austrian Army

Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today that it was awarded a contract in an amount of approximately $300 million to supply weapon, reconnaissance, driving, and situational awareness systems for approximately 230 armored vehicles, to a European customer. The contract will be performed over a period of six years and includes custom design, production, lifecycle maintenance and complete in-country support. However on February 19, the Austrian Ministry of Defence signed a contract with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) for 225 Pandur EVO 6×6 armoured vehicles. Pandur EVO compared to the Pandur I armored personnel carriers (supplied in the second half of the 1990s) with the Austrian army has increased weight, protection and an engine with a power of 455 hp.

The Pandur EVO equipped with a WS4 Panther remotely controlled weapon station armed with a 12.7-mm M2NV machine gun and a 7.62-mm MG74 machine gun from ESL Advanced Information Technology (ESLAIT) GmbH, the Austrian division of the Israeli company Elbit Systems. The WS4 Panther remotely operated weapon system (ROWS) family is a third-generation, high-precision, multi-purpose weapon system for small and mid-caliber weapons. With modular, dual-weapon capabilities, the ROWS is designed for dynamic or static operation, to be used on ground stationary, ground mobile or naval platforms.
