KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) and Elbit Systems have signed a Teaming Agreement for the EuroPULS at DSEI London to address the growing needs of precision rocket artillery capabilities. The agreement, that comes shortly after the signing of a MOU between both companies, realizes, formalizes and implements the strategic cooperation for the next generation rocket artillery system – EuroPULS. The DNA of EuroPULS consists of the synergetic combination of the capabilities from the systems house KNDS and the technology group Elbit Systems Land who have partnered together to establish EuroPULS. The transformation of the established Elbit PULS artillery rocket system into the flexible EuroPULS system is being carried out using the unique European capabilities of lead system integrator KNDS. Key success factors for transformation are KNDS’s modular fire control system and the modular architecture of the Elbit’s launcher.

EuroPULS forms the basis for a modularly scalable and flexible artillery system that can conceptually fire rockets of all manufacturers from any mobility platform with pinpoint accuracy and safety. Moreover, the EuroPULS system will posses the capabilities to fire the full spectrum of Elbit’s precison guided and training rocket artillery munitions from any mobility platform This inherent capability of the system, being “effector agnostic”, enables the user to select the optimum means of actions, tailored to the operational requirements and procurement processes, while avoiding potential ammunition bottlenecks. The Teaming Agreement enables stronger cooperation and synergy between the companies, as well as the transfer of technology to KNDS for the local production and work share for the launcher and integration into the German and European fire control systems, utilizing the unique system architecture and integration capabilities offered by KNDS.The performance and quality of cooperation between the two companies was demonstrated with the presentation of the first EuroPULS demonstrator at Future Artillery 2023.

KNDS is proposing that the Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS) multiple rocket launcher (MRL). After having signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding in June last year, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), Ulm based defence company Elbit Systems Deutschland and Elbit Systems Land have agreed to intensify their strategic cooperation. An Elbit Systems-Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) EuroPULS MRL mounted on an Iveco Trakker 8×8 chassis was displayed at KMW’s site in Munich on the first day of Defence iQ’s Future Artillery conference held in the Bavarian capital from 29 May to 1 June. EuroPULS could also be armed with Kongsberg’s Naval Strike Missile (NSM) and Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M). The NSM could be used in a surface-to-surface role either against naval vessels or land targets with a range of up to 250 km. The JFS-M combines ground launchability, a long range of up to 499 km, great agility, and low observability because of low-level flight and a reduced airframe.

The Precise & Universal Launching System (PULS) is an autonomous artillery rocket system developed by Israel-based defence electronics company Elbit Systems to meet the requirements of modern battlefield environments. The PULS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) offers an economically efficient solution for accurately launching a range of advanced rockets and missiles, ensuring precise targeting capabilities with optimal responsiveness.A typical firing mission can be initiated and executed in less than a minute. The launcher was purposefully engineered to bridge the gaps between various artillery components, including means of fire, sensors, and command, control, communications, computers, & intelligence (C4I) systems. The multi-purpose launcher incorporates two specialised PODS, each tailored for a specific type of rocket. The launcher can fire 18 Accular 122mm rockets, ten Accular 160mm rockets, four EXTRA rockets, and two Predator Hawk rockets.
