ARTEC, the manufacturer of the BOXER wheeled armored vehicles, recently announced significant progress in the Next MIV (Mechanised Infantry Vehicle) Programme Phase. The program, which initially involved 523 BOXER vehicles, saw an additional 100 vehicles added to the contract in January 2022. The program has reached crucial milestones, starting with the successful completion of the first formal set of Verification and Validation trials. Subsequently, the industry has commenced de-risk trials as part of their ongoing efforts. Earlier this year, the program initiated the first official trials by conducting a series of Blast Test Trials, employing a representative UK BOXER vehicle.
The BOXER program has also achieved progress in the assembly of prototypes. The Command variant of the first UK BOXER Prototype has completed its industry de-risk trials in Germany in April. Following these trials, it will be delivered to the UK for formal Customer acceptance trials. Moreover, two additional UK BOXER Prototype vehicles have been assembled, representing the Infantry Carrier and Specialist Carrier variants. The Infantry Carrier Prototype has already commenced homologation activities in Germany, ensuring compliance with necessary standards and regulations.
On the other hand, the Specialist Carrier Prototype is scheduled to undergo its industry-internal de-risk trials phase in Millbrook, UK, starting in July this year. Following this phase, formal Verification and Validation procedures are planned to commence in early autumn in Millbrook, UK. The progress made in the Next MIV Programme Phase highlights the commitment and dedication of ARTEC in delivering advanced armored vehicles to meet the evolving defense needs. These achievements signify significant advancements in the development and testing of the BOXER wheeled armored vehicles, which will ultimately enhance the capabilities of infantry and specialist units.
The Boxer is a multirole armoured fighting vehicle designed by an international consortium to accomplish a number of operations through the use of installable mission modules.
