Streit Group unveils its new Scorpion Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle delivered to the Federal Police of Brazil. The Scorpion Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle which has been designed for tactical response teams and can be configured for a multitude of military applications. The advanced V Shape Hull design of the Scorpion incorporates a high ground clearance and acute turning circle, allowing for a superior off-road capability. The Scorpion is fully armored to STANAG Level 4 and is able to withstand blast effects from mines and IED attacks.
The Streit Group Scorpion running gear, fully independent suspensions and braking systems have been designed and tested meticulously to ensure they support the fully loaded weight of the vehicle and payload on all types of ground. Its Cummins 6-cylinder ISBE 6.7L engine, generating 300 hp at 1,500 rpm. The Mine Resistant Ambush Protected can reach a top road speed of 110 km/h and has a maximum cruising range of 800 km. It can climb a gradient of 60% and a 40% side slope. Additionally, the vehicle can ford a river with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters.
The Scorpion MRAP can typically accommodate a crew of 2 and carry up to 10 fully-equipped troops, depending on the specific configuration and mission requirements. This makes a total of 12 personnel, including the driver and commander. The seating arrangement and capacity may vary slightly based on the vehicle’s design and customization for specific clients or missions. A fully enclosed armored turret is mounted on the roof of the vehicle offering a 360° view thanks to small windows mounted all-around the turret. A bank of four smoke grenade dischargers is mounted on the four corners of the vehicle’s roof.
