Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia had virtual talks with the Japan Ground Self-Defence Forces’ Chief of Staff General Yoshida Yoshihide on July 7. At the talks, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia pledged to join hands with General Yoshida to make contributions to promoting cooperation between the two ground forces and the two armies at large.
For his part, General Yoshida Yoshihide thanked Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia for joining the talks. He affirmed that he would try his best to promote friendship and cooperation between the two armies in general and the two ground forces in particular in a deep, practical and effective manner in the coming time.
The two sides expressed their joy at the fruitful development of the Vietnam – Japan relationship over the past time. Accordingly, bilateral defence cooperation, including ground forces one have been flourishing. They also agreed on a number of cooperation agreements between the two ground forces in the future, such as, delegation exchanges, military medicine, UN peacekeeping operations, addressing post-war consequences, COVID-19 prevention and control, etc.
