Oshkosh Defense LLC, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, was awarded a $26,067,335 firm-fixed-price contract for procurement of M978A4 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck Tankers, M984A4 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck Wreckers and M1070A1 Heavy Equipment Transporters. Work will be performed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 31, 2023. Fiscal 2010 Foreign Military Sales (Egypt) funds in the amount of $26,067,335 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Detroit Arsenal, Michigan, is the contracting activity.

The Oshkosh Defense HEMTT A4 recovery truck, or wrecker, offers heavy-duty power and extreme performance for the most difficult recovery missions. It has the maneuverability to traverse any type of terrain and the power to recover vehicles weighing in excess of ten tons (9072 kg), even those mired in mud, sand, water or snow. The HEMTT A4 recovery truck is built for high-performance, long-lasting duty. An anti-lock braking system, traction control and air-ride suspension provide easy navigation over any type of terrain.

The Oshkosh Defense HET A1 (M1070A1) heavy equipment transporter is an improved version of the previous US Army M1070. This new tank heavy equipment transporter has a more powerful engine, armored cab and a number of other improvements, such as anti-lock brakes, traction control system and upgraded electrical systems. The M1070A1 is a purpose-designed heavy-duty military vehicle. It is used in conjunction with an M1000 semi-trailer and is designed to transport the M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks. It can operate over any type of terrain and in remote areas.
