Joint Russian-Serbian Counter-terrorism Exercise Kicks off in Serbia

Joint Russian-Serbian counter-terrorism drills have kicked off in Serbia. The exercise, which will last until May 25, will involve both countries’ special operations troops. There are plans to practice airborne landings using the Arbalet parachute systems, troop movement towards facilities occupied by outlawed armed gangs, as well as ways to block and destroy such facilities. The exercise will also showcase exhibition performances and small arms shooting sessions.

Up to 200 servicemen and 11 units of equipment from the special forces of the Western Military District are involved in the exercise from the Russian side. At the opening ceremony of the exercise, the parties noted the importance of the joint combat training activities for the development of cooperation between the special forces of the armed forces of Serbia and Russia in the field of countering terrorism.
