The new HD (Heavy Duty) version of the DINGO provides a significantly higher payload of up to 3 tonnes – with the same outer dimensions as the previous DINGO 2. The variants of the DINGO 2 HD offer an increased payload volume as well as greater engine performance. The gross vehicle weight has increased to 14.5 t. Based on a new Unimog chassis with a powerful 225 kW, 6-cylinder engine and a fully automatic transmission, a variety of new mission-specific variants can be realized while maintaining the well-known and leading international protection concept.
The unique structural attachment of the safety cell to the chassis, while retaining the torsional flexibility of the chassis frame, also ensures the superior mobility proven by all DINGO vehicles on virtually any terrain. The DINGO 2 HD is therefore ideally suited for multifaceted mission profiles and extreme off-road conditions. The patrol vehicle cell is offered in various designs for up to 8 occupants, while the large volume cell features doors to the sides and rear and can accommodate a variety of equipment such as a command post, NBC reconnaissance or ambulance.
The DINGO 2 is not only well prepared for a variety of mission profiles and extreme terrain, but also for a cost-effective long service life. Its basis is a militarized UNIMOG chassis. This results in low cost for training and instruction of drivers and mechanics. Another economic benefit is also the low-maintenance, durable diesel engine. In addition, the KMW service department offers worldwide vehicle maintenance – directly in the operational area – and also supports the supply of spare parts. Thus, each time the full performance of the vehicles is ensured.
With the DINGO 2, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann have developed a convincing response to the numerous global threat scenarios. More than 800 units of this powerful general protection transport vehicle are under contract for 6 Nations. This allows the user nations (Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Norway and Austria) to continue with a consistent and cost-effective maintenance of all of their vehicles from the DINGO family. The Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) showcases DINGO 2 HD on the basis of the DINGO 2 at Eurosatory 2016.
