Serbian Armed Forces 72nd Special Operations Brigade Receives New Miloš Armoured Combat Vehicles

Serbian Armed Forces have received the first ten BOV M16 Milosh 4×4 armoured multi-purpose combat vehicles. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence NebojÅ¡a Stefanović, PhD, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, attended the handover of ten “MiloÅ¡ 4×4” armoured combat vehicles to members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade. These are modern armoured combat vehicles manufactured by domestic engineers and industry, and they arrived in one of the most elite military units in the world. They came to the right hands, the hands of the unit capable of performing every task in order to protect Serbia.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence NebojÅ¡a Stefanović, PhD sai,d “We continue equipping the Serbian Armed Forces and we want them to be, not only the strongest in the region, but one of the most powerful armed forces in accordance with its size. We will invest in vehicles such as “Lazar”, “MiloÅ¡” and “Little MiloÅ¡”, and this year we also expect the arrival of new “Noras” – Stefanović said, adding that he was glad that domestic companies such as “Jugoimport SDPR”, were doing their best to produce vehicles that were on a par with the world’s best vehicles. This year, in addition to investing in new equipment and ballistic protection, they would continue to invest in soldiers’ standard of living.”

The BOV M16 MiloÅ¡ is a Serbian new multi-purpose MRAP combat vehicle intended for various applications in the activities of police and armed forces, such as “Reconnaissance”, “Command and Control” and “Homeland Security.The vehicle is based on a chassis with self-supporting hull and has modern drive assemblies with T700 drive line that has been developed by Timoney and Texelis with independent suspension system. CUMMINS ISB 300 hp diesel engine is installed in the front part in conjunction with Allison 3500SP automatic transmission. Such a configuration enables maximum speed of the vehicle to exceed 110 km/h. Wheels has “run-flat”, feature provided by Tyron with the central tire inflation system.

Current version has armament with one variant of M15 Remotely Controlled Weapons Station on the roof of vehicle equipped with 12.7 mm machine gun that can be used against land targets up to a distance of 2,000m and up to 1,500m for aerial targets. Beside RCWS vehicle has 6 automatic smoke grenade launchers on a roof of vehicle in standard configuration. 12.7mm M15 Remotely Controlled Weapons Station has laser range finder, day/night sight through appropriate cameras and wide angle camera for battlefield observation. The 4X4 vehicle features a V-shaped hull, integrating floating-floor plates, and blast-mitigation seating to protect against mines and improvised explosive devices to the crew.
