On Tuesday, Jordanian Armed Forces formally received a group of eight Stark Motors armored personnel carriers donated from Qatari government. The vehicles were received at a ceremony attended by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces. A mix of Nomad and Thunder mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, were the 8 of 44 that will be transferred. Since the launch of Stark Motors in 2017, the Qatari government has donated its MRAPs to a number of friendly countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. Doha donated 24 Storm vehicles to Mali in late 2018 and another 24 to Burkino Faso the next year. Somalia’s military received 68 armored vehicles from the Gulf country.
Nomad is a mine resistant ambush protected armored personnel carrier (MRAP APC) provides to passengers blast protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 3 and ballistic protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 4. Nomad has 10 persons seating capacity: driver, commander and 8 passengers in crew compartment. Vehicle designed for harsh Off-Road conditions and could be in various configurations: troop carrier, command and control,
ambulance and medical evacuation platform. Power is provided by an 6.7L 6-Cylinder turbo diesel engine that develops an output power of 350 Hp at 2600 rpm. Thunder features V-shaped monocoque hull made using all-welded steel armour.
Thunder is a mine resistant ambush protected armored personnel carrier (MRAP APC) provides to passengers’ blast protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 3
and ballistic protection up to CEN B7. Due to smaller dimensions and high seating capacity it is ideal MRAP vehicle for urban and field operations.
