Yugoimport–SDPR is a Serbian state-owned intermediary company for the import and export of defense-related equipment, with the headquarters in Belgrade, Serbia. The company was founded in 1949 in what was then Yugoslavia, for the needs of the Yugoslav defense industry. Today the company represents the Government and military industrial complex of Serbia in the sphere of importation and exportation cooperation of defense equipment and related services. Company works together with the Serbian Army, Military Technical Institute Belgrade and many private companies in Serbia and around the world in developing new weapons and systems. The company also provides weapons design, consulting, construction and engineering services. SDPR opened new “Complex Battle System” factory in Velika Plana, Serbia for producing combat vehicles. Yugoimport had many high profile technology transfers with a goal to establish arms or ammunition production in target friendly country. Some of most known is export of M-87 Orkan technology in Iraq and many other licenses to many countries. Most recent there was technology transfers in Azerbaijan for producing grenade launchers, Algiers and India. With Algiers a contract was signed in a November 2011 forming a joint-venture for the building three arms factories in Algeria for manufacturing individual weapons and ammunition for a total amount of 400 millions USD. Latest ammunition transfer of production technology was done under make in India program and is worth 2.8 billion of EURO.
