Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, together with the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces, announced a record result achieved during live-fire exercises involving the Homar-K multiple rocket launcher system conducted as part of the allied Baltic Shield exercise. A CGR-080 missile successfully struck a target located at a distance of 79.6 km, confirming the capabilities of the entire Homar-K system. The Baltic Shield exercise is conducted jointly by the armed forces of Poland and the Kingdom of Denmark in the area of Bornholm and the Baltic Sea region.

The Polish-configured Homar-K rocket launcher, based on the Korean Chunmoo system, represents one of the most significant examples of defence industrial cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea. The program includes not only the delivery of modern rocket artillery systems for the Polish Armed Forces, but also extensive industrial cooperation, technology transfer, and the development of local competencies in the areas of production, integration, and support of rocket systems. The system combines Korean launcher technology with solutions provided by the Polish defence industry, including Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and WB Group.

The joint activities confirm the growing role of Polish rocket systems operating alongside allied forces and their importance in strengthening interoperability and deterrence capabilities on NATO’s eastern flank. The exercise is another example of coalition maneuvers demonstrating the ability of Polish artillery units to operate effectively in a multinational environment while maintaining high operational readiness of the system. The exercise includes operations on land, at sea, and in the air, focusing on strengthening security in the strategically important Baltic region and responding to both conventional and hybrid threats.

Homar-K (English: Lobster; K for koreański, meaning Korean) is a Polish multiple launch rocket system combining the improved K239 launcher and Jelcz P882.57 8×8 chassis produced by Huta Stalowa Wola. Built to meet Polish military requirements, the system is equipped with Topaz [wd] Integrated Combat Management System and is armed with a South Korean 239 mm CGR-080 guided rocket produced in Poland under license as well as a 600 mm CTM-290 tactical ballistic missile (Chunmoo Tactical Missile) with a range of 290 kilometers (180 mi). Poland ordered a total of 290 launchers, the first of which entered service with the Polish Land Forces in 2023.
