Elbit Systems of America (Elbit America) is set to present its SIGMA wheeled self-propelled howitzer at the AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exhibition, scheduled to take place in Huntsville, Alabama, from 24–26 March 2026. The system is being offered as part of the US Army’s Self-Propelled Howitzer Modernization (SPH-M) programme. Manufactured in Charleston, South Carolina, SIGMA is positioned as the only US-produced wheeled self-propelled howitzer currently available. The system is built on a 10×10 platform designed to operate alongside brigade combat teams, offering high tactical mobility across complex terrain. According to the company, the platform is capable of “shoot-and-scoot” operations in under 60 seconds. SIGMA integrates a fully automated 155 mm/L52 turret capable of 360-degree firing. The system supports the full range of 155 mm munitions in the US Army inventory and is equipped with an onboard magazine accommodating up to 40 rounds. It has a stated rate of fire of up to eight rounds per minute, while a three-person crew remains protected within an armoured cabin.

Elbit America is partnering with Oshkosh Defense, which provides the system’s vehicle base derived from a modified 10×10 logistics truck platform. The chassis, referred to as the Mobile Artillery Platform (MAP), incorporates an armoured cab and is purpose-built for the SIGMA system. The turret is remotely operated, with ammunition handling, loading, and laying functions fully automated, enabling all firing operations to be conducted from within the cabin. The system is capable of multiple-round simultaneous impact (MRSI) fire missions, delivering successive rounds along differing trajectories to achieve near-simultaneous target impact. Hydraulic stabilisers are deployed during firing to enhance platform stability and retract upon mission completion.

The SIGMA 155 is derived from a system developed by Israel-based Elbit Systems and is being introduced into service with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under the designation ‘Ro’em’. It is intended to replace the legacy M109 tracked howitzer fleet as the IDF’s primary artillery system. While the Israeli configuration has a reported range of approximately 40 km, the export variant under development is expected to achieve ranges of up to 80 km, depending on munition type. Initial operational firing of the system by IDF artillery units took place in June 2024, with the first unit delivered in December 2025. At AUSA Global Force 2026, SIGMA will be displayed at Oshkosh Defense’s booth (No. 411), located opposite Elbit America’s booth (No. 532) in the South Hall of the Von Braun Center. The exhibition hall will be open from 09:00 to 17:00 on 24–25 March and from 09:00 to 12:00 on 26 March.
