On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, during the second day of the 32nd International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce, Polish Armament Agency signed a notable contract with WB Electronics, a subsidiary of the WB Group. Valued at approximately 24 million PLN (6.23 million USD), the agreement is for the procurement of six advanced FlyEye Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). This deal marks the second contract this year under a broader framework agreement established in 2023, which calls for the delivery of around 400 FlyEye UAS by 2026. The deal is a continuation of Poland’s efforts to modernize its defense capabilities. The first batch of systems under this framework agreement was delivered in April 2024, with additional deliveries scheduled through 2026.
FlyEye, developed by Polish engineers at Flytronic is recognized globally for its exceptional reconnaissance capabilities. FLYEYE mini UAV is a modular system characterized by the ease of assembly and disassembly. Launch readiness can be achieved in less than 10 minutes. Hand-launch with no additional equipment which allows it to be operated in tight spaces and confined areas. The latest version, FlyEye 3.6, boasts significant upgrades in navigation systems, enhanced security, and integration with the Topaz Automated Fire Control System. These improvements ensure that the FlyEye system can operate under challenging conditions, including disrupted communication and satellite navigation.
The FlyEye system, in use since 2015, has been combat-tested and has proven its reliability in various high-intensity conflict zones, making it a key asset for the Polish Armed Forces and Border Guard, as well as foreign military units. Poland’s commitment to strengthening its unmanned aerial capabilities is further highlighted by the production milestone announced by the WB Group earlier this year, with the completion of the 1,000th FlyEye unit. With full control over production and modification rights, the WB Group has positioned itself as a leader in unmanned aerial technology, capable of meeting both domestic and international demand.
