European aerospace leader Airbus and Singaporean multinational technology and engineering group ST Engineering’s Defence Aerospace business have agreed to collaborate towards providing MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services for C295, extending Airbus footprint in the region, in support of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) users of the medium tactical airlifter fleet. As an Airbus-accredited C295 MRO provider, ST Engineering will support the regional C295 fleets with depot level maintenance and turnkey solutions at its existing facility in Singapore. The C295 has gained wide usage by military forces globally. In Asia-Pacific, the tactical airlifter is being used by the Royal Brunei Air Force, Royal Thai Army, Philippine Air Force, Vietnam People’s Air Force, Indonesian Air Force, Indonesian Police, and Bangladesh Army.

“With this latest collaboration with Airbus, we are extending our MRO solutions in tactical airlifters to the C295 platform. Working closely with Airbus, we will harness our deep experience and capabilities in MRO to contribute to the mission success of C295 operators in the region,” said Sarbjit Singh, President of Defence Aerospace, ST Engineering.

“ST Engineering has been a long time partner across Airbus’ business lines, and we are pleased to extend this collaboration where we leverage its established strength in MRO. We look forward to this centre of excellence supporting our C295 operators in Asia-Pacific with efficiency, cost effectiveness and quality,” said Zakir Hamid, Head of Asia-Pacific, Airbus Defence and Space.

The Airbus C295 is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. Both manufacturing and final assembly of the C-295 is normally performed at the Airbus Defence and Space facilities in San Pablo Airport, located in Seville, Spain. Additional manufacturing arrangements have been agreed with some customers. Since 2011, Indonesian Aerospace has produced the CN-295 under license at their facilities in Bandung, Indonesia, via an industrial collaboration with Airbus Defence & Space.
