INTRACOM Defense Electronics (IDE) announces the contract award by Raytheon Technologies for the production of electronic modules for the support and sustainment of the surface-to-air RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). The contract valued at 4.16 million USD, signifies an expansion of the long lasting successful cooperation between the two companies and solidifies IDE’s position as a key supplier in the global supply chain of Raytheon Technologies. The RAM is a small, lightweight, infrared homing surface-to-air missile in use by the German, Japanese, Greek, Turkish, South Korean, Saudi Arabian, Egyptian, Mexican, UAE, and United States Navies. It was originally intended and used primarily as a point-defense weapon against anti-ship missiles. RAM rolls as it flies. The missile must roll during flight because the RF tracking system uses a two-antenna interferometer that can measure phase interference of the electromagnetic wave in one plane only. The rolling interferometer permits the antennas to look at all planes of incoming energy. In addition, because the missile rolls, only one pair of steering canards is required.

Greece’s leading manufacturer of electronic in the defense and security area, focuses primarily on the armament programs of Greek and foreign defense ministries and NATO. IDE designs, develops and manufactures products that incorporate state-of-the-art technology in Missile Electronics, Tactical IP Communications, C4I Systems, Surveillance, Hybrid Electric Power Systems, and Unmanned Systems, as well as software for military applications and testing equipment. Security, mobility and integrated services are all part of IDE’s military standard networks, which can serve all branches of the Armed Forces and Homeland Security Services.
