Amentum was awarded an $818 million contract for adversary aircraft sustainment and modernization of the U.S. Navy F-16 fleet. Amentum will manage all aspects of the Viper Maintenance Group Aircraft Maintenance and Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contract by providing technical, sustainment and logistics solutions for the Navy F-16 aircraft based at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, Nevada. Under this contract, Amentum maintains F-16/A/B/C/D aircraft and provides full system maintenance and supply chain support to support continuous flight operations, along with many detachments executed simultaneously with home station operations. During the contract period, Amentum will support the Navy in growing their F-16 Adversary fleet across all sites. This single-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract begins August 31, 2023, has a five-year base period and a three-year option period, and is contracted through Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) supporting the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) and the Naval Air Forces Reserve, Tactical Support Wing (TSW).

The Tactical Support Wing (TSW) is one of three reserve aircraft wings of the United States Navy. It is headquartered at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas along with the reserve’s Fleet Logistics Support Wing (FLSW). The third reserve wing is the Maritime Support Wing (MSW) which is headquartered at Naval Air Station North Island, California. The wing’s primary mission is operational and training support for active forces. It is composed of five flying squadrons. In October of 2022 it retired the Hornet from Navy service, was redesignated VFC-204 and received VFC-13’s F-5 Tiger II aircraft as VFC-13 transitioned from the F-5 to the F-16C Fighting Falcon. The US Navy was once a proud operator of the F-16N; 26 F-16Ns and 4 TF-16Ns were ordered in 1985 to fulfil its Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) mission. the US Navy purchased fourteen other F-16s: ten F-16As and four F-16Bs, all Block 15s. That unit was redesignated into Naval Air Warfare Development Center in 2015. These fourteen Vipers are still flying from the Nevada air base.
