Indonesia’s aerospace industry is growing, and Frasca, a FlightSafety International company, is playing a key role in supporting its development with the recent completion of Factory Acceptance of a Level D H225M Helicopter Full Flight Simulator (FFS) as part of PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s (PTDI) collaboration to deliver a Level D H225M Helicopter FFS to the Indonesian Air Force (IDAF). As one of the leading players in the Indonesian aerospace sector, PTDI, and Frasca share a common mission in developing strategic alliances with other world class aerospace industries while delivering competitive products and services. The simulator is a type-specific replica of the H225M helicopter and is designed to match the specific configuration of the aircraft – including SAR, NVG and other training tasks as required by the Indonesian Air Force (IDAF) – while providing pilots with the highest level of skill and proficiency training.
This milestone was achieved in February 2023, with representatives from PTDI, the Indonesian Air Force (IDAF), the Indonesian Defence Airworthiness Authority (IDAA), and the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MOD) on-site at Frasca’s facility in Champaign-Urbana, IL. The delivery of the H225M simulator for IDAF further strengthens the relationship between Frasca and PTDI, while furthering the Indonesian Aerospace sector. Under an agreement between the Indonesian MOD and PTDI, 6 helicopters have been delivered and 8 helicopters will be delivered to the Indonesian Air Force, with the simulator and a purpose-built building as an additional requirement. The simulator enables IDAF pilots to cover a multitude of training events safely in the device, without the need to train in the actual aircraft. This significantly reduces the risks and costs associated with using real aircraft for training purposes and enhances the training experience.
Frasca’s commitment to delivering high-quality simulators and supporting potential projects in the region has been instrumental in supporting Indonesia’s emergence as a global player in aviation. The company has a long-standing relationship with the Indonesian aerospace sector, having produced B412 and NB105 simulators for the Indonesian Army nearly 30 years ago. Since then, Frasca has supplied several other simulators to Indonesia, including TB10s for STPI CURUG, a DA40/42 device for the Indonesian Police, and a Cessna 172 device for Lion Air. The delivery of the H225M simulator highlights the company’s continued dedication to delivering cutting-edge technology and strengthening its relationship with PTDI, an important player in Indonesian aerospace.
State-owned aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) will supply six Eurocopter EC725 Caracal (now called Airbus Helicopters H225M) combat search and rescue helicopters to the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) through 2014 in cooperation with Eurocopter. Since 2008 PTDI had been involved in the manufacture of EC225 and EC725 tail booms and complete airframe assemblies in Bandung, West Java. The contract for the supply of the six combat-proven multi-role helicopters in the 11-ton class was signed by the Indonesian Defence Ministry and PTDI on March 12, 2012. The H225M is a member of Eurocopter`s Super Puma/Cougar family. Since early in the 1990s PTDI has produced the SA330 Puma and AS332 Super Puma helicopters in Bandung to meet demand from the Indonesian Air Force. The Airbus Helicopters H225M is a long-range tactical transport military helicopter developed from the Eurocopter AS532 Cougar for military use. It is a twin-engined aircraft and can carry up to 28 seated troops along with two crew, depending on customer configuration.
