Allied and Partner fighters joined US heavy bombers, maritime and special operations forces in the Baltic sea region, October 23. The training was designed to hone reactions to dynamic threats. US Air Force B-1s were joined by fighters from Poland and NATO Partner Sweden, which enabled a total force integration with ¬U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Special Operations Command Europe. This type of combined arms mission demonstrates Allied ability to deter aggression and project stability in the Baltic Sea region, which hosts major sea and air routes for NATO and partner nations. Additionally, Allied Joint Terminal Attack Controllers in Sweden coordinated air support with the bomber crews by identifying training targets.
“Bomber Task Forces strengthen our ability to operate and fight alongside our Allies and Partners. Bombers enhance our ability to address dynamic threats and counter adversary actions in the region as an effective joint force.,” said General Jeff Harrigian, Commander Allied Air Command.
US Air Force B-1s provide a speed, payload configuration, and maneuverability this allow for seamless Air, Land and Maritime integration enabling an Allied Joint Force to achieve its goals more efficiently. An American B-1 strategic bomber has landed at the military base in Powidz. The flight from Norway to Poland and back was escorted by Polish F-16 fighters.
