The 57mm MK 110 Gun Mount is a multi-purpose, medium caliber gun. The MK 110 Gun Mount can fire salvos at up to 220 rounds per minutes, and has a range of nine miles. The MK 110 Gun Mount delivers high rates of fire with extreme accuracy against surface, airborne and shore-based threats. The primary mission of the MK 110 Gun Mount is to provide engagement of known surface threats during combat operations in a theater area of operation. The MK 110 gun developed by BAE Bofors, Sweden, as the 57mm MK3, was competitively selected for installation on the United States Coast Guard (USCG) cutters and Littoral Combat System (LCS) class ships. It is designed to engage surface, air and missile targets. The current version of the 57mm gun was designed in 1995 and introduced into service in Sweden on their Visby class corvette in 2000.

The MK 110 Mod 0 Gun is assembled at the BAE Systems facility in Louisville, Kentucky. The gun mount includes a 120 round automatic loader drum. The maximum firing rate is 220 rounds per minute. The gun is normally operated by remote control from the fire control system (FCS) by one operator but can be controlled locally in the gun mount. Additional rounds can be accomplished by the full crew (mount captain and two designated ammunition loaders), all of which are stationed below deck. The Mk 110 weather shield provides environmental and ballistic protection for the gun system, and the design can be tailored to meet specific platform signature requirements. The highly compact and lightweight Mk 110 Mod 0 requires minimal deck penetration and space below deck for ease in integration to a variety of hull types of 150 tons or more.
