The Russian manufacturer of the infamous AK-47 assault rifle, Kalashnikov Group, has unveiled the newest air cushion ship Haska-10, which developed as a transport base for civilian use with a payload of 10 ton. The main purpose of the vessel is to transport cargo and passengers at sea and in areas with shallow water and inhospitable coast. In the near future this project will make a significant contri-bution to the development of the transport system of hard-to-access and socially significant regions of the Russian Federation, i.e. Siberian, Far East and Volga-Kama Baltic region river basins.

The design and engineering department of the shipyard in Rybinsk started the project in January 2018. The project is described as an economic universal transport vessel for military and civilian use. It is clear that the demand for it can be not only in the civilian market but also by Russian power structures. Haska-10 was created within the state program “Development of shipbuilding and equipment for shelf areas in the years 2013 – 2030”.
