Turkish defense company, Aselsan has signed a contract with a NATO member nation for the supply of SARP Advanced Remote Controlled Stabilized Weapon Stations and SEDA Gunshot Detection System. Further details of the contract such as the type of systems that are being sold or the country that is procuring them was not announced, the company announced on 10 April. The new contract marks the 20th nation to have adopted Aselsan RCWS solutions. Over 3,000 advanced stabilized RCWS have been successfully manufactured and delivered by the company.
Aselsan SARP provides a perfect match for integration onto tactical vehicles, fixed surveillance posts, towers and critical infrastructures. Depending on the operational requirements, SARP can be equipped with 12.7mm machine gun, 40mm automatic grenade launcher or 7.62mm machine gun. Through its extensive surveillance and remote control capabilities, SARP enhances situational awareness of the gunner in his proximity while the vulnerability to attacks is decreased drastically.
Aselsan SEDA system is designed to detect supersonic projectiles and to calculate shooter’s location under all environmental conditions, using acoustic detection technology. System has three configurations (Standalone, moving-vehicle, wearable) to satisfy different operational concepts.
