Italian industrial vehicle manufacturing company Iveco Defence Vehicles, announces that on December 30, 2019 a first order of a frame agreement including more than 2,900 vehicles has been signed with the Romanian Ministry of National Defence (Ministerul Apărării NaÈ›ionale). These first 942 high-mobility trucks will be delivered throughout four years, starting from 2020. This important achievement is testament to the satisfaction of the Romanian Armed Forces with the two previous contracts for 57 high mobility trucks in 2015 and 173 in 2017, and contributes to further strengthen the relationship between the Romanian Ministry of National Defence and Iveco Defence Vehicles, enhancing the company’s position as a key military truck supplier.
Iveco Defence Vehicles’ High Mobility range of 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 battle proven trucks is designed to have the protection and mobility to meet demanding specialist military logistic applications. This range of purpose designed vehicles offers exceptional mobility and an unprepared fording capability of 850mm, providing tactical support to military operations in the most hostile environmental conditions, from -32C to +49C. Being equipped with Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS), black-out lights, dual-fuel engines, self-recovery winches and tactical axles, they can offer exceptional mobility, fording capability and C-130 air transportability in order to provide tactical support to any military operation.
The High Mobility Product Range can be readily customized to match specific user needs by virtue of its modular design, which embraces both the cab and the driveline. Crew survivability has also been accorded a high priority: the whole range can be equipped with a new generation of appliqué armour kits providing both anti-mine and ballistic protection. To ensure that these vehicles retain their outstanding flexibility and adaptability, the appliqué armour can be readily fitted and removed in the field.
