The Australian Defence Force is proud to be part of the Australian International Airshow (AIA) Avalon 2019 – the premier event in the southern hemisphere for showcasing aerospace industry and military aviation. The Australian International Airshow Aerospace and Defence Expo 2019 is a week-long trade exhibition held at Avalon airport (26 February to 1 March), followed by the Avalon 2019 public airshow on the weekend of 1-3 March. This year’s theme is ‘Target acquired: Air power for Australia’s future’. The Royal Australian Air Force showcased the integrated and networked force being implemented via Plan Jericho to transform us into a fifth-generation Air Force. The breadth and depth of Australian Defence Force capabilities will also be on display. See first hand the latest in military aviation technologies and ground-based equipment.

The breadth and depth of Australian Defence Force airpower capabilities will be on display for the public to see first-hand the latest military aviation technologies. Royal Australian Air Force aircraft participated in the airshow include: the first Australian owned F-35A Joint Strike Fighters, F/A-18 A/B Hornet multi-role fighters, F/A-18F Super Hornet multi-role fighter, Hawk 127 lead-in fighters, C-17A Globemaster III heavy airlift aircraft, C-130J Hercules, C-27J Spartan, KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, KA350 King Air multi-role light aircraft, EA-18G Growler, P-8A Poseidon, PC-21and the Air Force’s elite Roulettes formation aerobatic team will perform their final flying display in the PC-9/As.

The Royal Australian Navy is expected to contribute: Sikorsky MHR-60R Seahawk submarine hunter and anti-surface warfare helicopter, MHR-60R ‘Romeo’ maritime combat helicopter, MRH-90 Taipan maritime utility helicopter, EC-135 T2+ helicopter, Bel 429 Global Ranger. The Australian Army is expected to provide: Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters (ARH) Tigers, MRH-90 Multi Role Helicopters, CH-47F Chinook, M1A1 Abrams tank, M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier, M-777 Howitzer artillery piece, HX-77 Gun Tractor, PMV-D Bushmasterand Protected Mobility Vehicle-Light Hawkei. The RAAF Museum will also be bringing some of their heritage aircraft down for flying and static displays, including: Sopwith Pup Replica, RE-8, CT-4, Wingeel, Harvard and CAC Mustang. Not all aircraft participated in the flying displays, some aircraft on static display only.
