Varan 6×6 is a tactical amphibious armored vehicle with advanced ballistic and blast protection design by Streit Group. This Vehicle can be configured as command and control unit, reconnaissance, forward observation, convoy support. Varan 6×6 is built to withstand ballistic arm fire, mine blasts, IED’s the vehicle features a V-shape hull which provides superior protection against mine blast for crew and equipment. The engine is mounted at the front of the vehicle, with crew and troop’s compartment at the rear. The Varan offers seating for 10 people, including the driver, commander and 8 passengers. In the rear of the hull is a large door that opens to the left, with a vision block in its upper part. The Streit Group Varan 6×6 amphibious armoured vehicle is powered by a V6 Cummins engine gives it power to cross the most difficult and hostile terrains. The Varan is able to negotiate 60% gradient and 40% side slope.
The Streit Group Varan 6×6 amphibious vehicle can be equipped with a roof-mounted rotating weapon station which can be armed with 12.7mm heavy machine gun or 12.7mm machine gun, or automatic grenade launcher. The Varan can be fitted with a remotely controlled weapon station. At IDEX 2013, an FN Herstal deFNder® Medium Remote Weapon Station armed with armed with a .50 caliber (12.7mm) FN M3R heavy machine gun was mounted on the vehicle.
