Sisu GTP is a new 4×4 modular armored vehicle as the successor to the aging armored vehicle Patria Pasi, developed by Finnish company Sisu Auto (Oy Sisu Auto AB). The vehicle integrates robust design technologies with reliable structure, making it a high-performance armoured military platform. Unveiled by Sisu Auto in April 2018, the armoured vehicle is designed to deliver a high degree of versatility. It is intended to meet the increasing protection and mobility requirements of armed forces across the globe.
The 4×4 vehicle is equipped with independent suspension system and differential locks in each wheel, providing SISU GTP with mobility characteristics that are necessary beyond the paved roads, in severe off-road terrain, whatever the operational environment might be. Payload of the vehicle in off-road conditions is, subject to the chosen protection level, up to 4500 kg. The length of the vehicle is 6m, while the height and width are 2.55m and 2.5m respectively. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 3.8m and ground clearance of 400mm. Its gross weight is approximately 14,000kg.
The GTP covers a wide variety of operational roles. The modular design of the vehicle allows the users to customise it into different mission variants. The vehicle can be configured into an armoured personnel carrier, a casualty evacuation vehicle, a reconnaissance vehicle, and a recovery vehicle. Separate Backbone and Crew Body structures result in unmatched versatility, enabling numerous variants for different operational uses, as well as easy maintainability even in field conditions. Interchangeable components and maintainability are also important factors in Life Cycle Support economy.
Sisu Auto has gained expertise of armouring solutions during the long history of armoured vehicle deliveries intended for the harshest operational duties. The armoured hull of the vehicle offers a high degree of protection against ballistic threats. It provides up to STANAG 4569 level one protection against ballistic threats, and STANAG 4569 standard protection against land mine explosions. The crew survivability of SISU GTP is based on this expertise and knowledge. Modular vehicle structure allows operational-specific protection solutions: Protection level can be increased with an additional add-on kit or replacement components as necessary to safeguard the occupants from rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attacks.
The Sisu GTP armoured vehicle is powered by a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine coupled to a six-speed fully automatic transmission system. The on-board power is supplied by a 24V auxiliary electrical power system. The axles based on independent suspension can bear a maximum load of up to 7t. The independent suspension system ensures smooth mobility on challenging and rough terrains. The vehicle is fitted with 365/85 R20 or 14.00 R20 type wheels and pneumatic disc brakes powered by anti-lock brake system (ABS). It further features an optional central tyre inflation system (CTIS). The armoured vehicle can attain a maximum speed of more than 100km/h. The maximum payload carrying capacity of the vehicle is 4,500kg.
