The Plasan Guarder is a composite high performance armored vehicle designed by Plasan of Israel. It is based on a commercial MAN SE 4×4 chassis can carry a payload of up to 3,500 kilograms in a spacious composite-steel hull with STANAG 3 armored protection. The Guarder is fit for military and peacekeeping operations, homeland security, border patrol, SWAT and police forces. Originally designed for replacement for the Massari Centurion of the Military Police of São Paulo State. In 2014, Plasan has won a contract for the delivery of Guarder vehicles for the Sao Paulo police of Brazil.
GUARDER’s lightweight steel composite hull on a robust 4×4 chassis provides impressive maneuverability, with a small turning radius making it ideal for dense urban enviromrnts. The vehicle’s unique design and high clearance enables it to travel through fields, over ditches and obstacles, as well as hilly and rocky terrain. It easily traverses mud, snow, gravel and sand while it speeds over dirt and paved roads.
The Plasan Guarder design ensures that troops arrive ready to perform the mission. It provides a protective cocoon for drivers and crew. AEP-55 Vol.1 Level 3 and NIJ Standard-0101.06 Level 4 ballistic protection, stops light firearms, rifles and machine-guns as well as stones, Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), Improvised Incendiary Devices(IID) and other items thrown at the vehicle. A specially designed armored floor reduces potential injuries from lEDs and antipersonnel mines detonated underneath the GUARDER.
The Plasan Guarder has a combat weight of 22 tons, and curb weight of 18.5 tons with a payload of 3,500 kg. The vehicle is motorized with a MAN International combustion turbo diesel engine D2066LFH-2 coupled to a MAN G 172 transmission. It can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/hr with a maximum cruising range of 500 km. The vehicle fitted with a spacious protected capsule that can be configured to accommodate 22 troops in addition to the two men crew, a command post, medical facility etc.
