Sister in Arms is a documentary released by Inter-Services Public Relations to honor women serving in the armed forces. The video features brave daughters of the country who have broken stereotypes to work alongside their male counterparts, keeping Pakistan safe.
Pakistan is the only predominantly Muslim country in which women serve as high-ranking officers and in combat roles, and a sizable unit of female army and air force personnel has been actively involved in military operations against Taliban forces. Women have been taking part in Pakistani military since 1947, after the establishment of Pakistan. In 2006, the first women fighter pilot batch joined the combat aerial mission command of PAF. There has been a rise in the numbers of women joining the combat PAF in recent years
The Inter-Services Public Relations is the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces which broadcasts and coordinates military news and information to the country’s civilian media and the civic society. The ISPR directorate serves the purpose of aiming to strengthen public relations with the civic society, through interacting with the media. The directorate also works as the principle voice of the Pakistan’s military, with its director-general serving as the official spokesperson of the armed forces. In addition, the ISPR provides funds, productions, and assists with the military-produced public relations media– both military dramas and the war films.
