Upgraded interceptor missile of the Russian Anti-Ballistic Missil (ABM) system

The ASF’s AD and MD combat crew successfully tested an upgraded interceptor missile of the Russian Anti-Ballistic Missil (ABM) system at the Sary-Shagan training ground (Republic of Kazakhstan).
Deputy Commander of the ASF’s formation Colonel Andrey Prihodko stated that “the anti-ballistic missile followed the flight plan and successfully hit a mock target”. The ABM system is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is intended to shield Moscow from aerospace attacks, perform tasks for early warning and space control.
The Moscow ABM defense system was designed with the aim of being able to intercept the ICBM warheads aimed at Moscow and other important industrial regions, and is based on: ABM-1 Galosh (decommissioned), A-135 anti-ballistic missile system, ABM-3 Gazelle, ABM-4 Gorgon and A–235 Nudol (In development).
Apart from the main Moscow deployment, Russia has striven actively for intristic ABM capabilities of its SAM systems. S-300P (SA-10), S-300V/V4 (SA-12), S-300PMU-1/2 (SA-20), S-400 (SA-21) and S-500 (In development).
