The Saudi military has intercepted and shot down a long-range ballistic missile over Riyadh, fired from Yemen.
It was not the first long-range missile fired over the border into Saudi Arabia, but this missile, which Houthi rebels confirmed to Al Jazeera they had fired, appeared to have travelled the furthest, reaching King Khalid International Airport.
Shattered fragments from the intercepted missile landed in an uninhabited area of the airport and there were no reported injuries.
Al Jazeera’s Mereana Hond reports.
