A delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, conducted an inspection of the research, design, manufacturing, and testing results for the PTH-152 and PTH-130 self-propelled artillery systems on 14 October. The inspection team, which included Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, evaluated the platforms as part of Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to modernize its land forces. The PTH-152 project was assigned to Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of the Military Telecommunications Industry Group, while the development of the PTH-130 was entrusted to the Military Technical Academy.

Both defense development initiatives have completed their respective design, fabrication, and assembly phases, successfully undergoing initial mobility trials and live-fire test firings that met baseline performance criteria. The lead development entities are currently submitting the core tactical-technical configurations to the General Staff for formal approval while refining system stability and reliability to support multi-tiered evaluation and acceptance processes. Throughout the development lifecycle, the Artillery-Missile Command has actively collaborated with the engineering teams, monitoring project progress and directly supervising live-fire assessments.

Following the physical inspection and briefing from participating agencies, Sr Lt Gen Nam praised the development teams for mastering key design and manufacturing technologies tailored to contemporary artillery operations. He noted that the lead units maintained close coordination with the Artillery-Missile Command to execute structured, synchronized test plans adhering strictly to performance metrics and safety protocols. The Deputy Minister emphasized that these indigenous self-propelled systems reflect a high level of responsibility in aligning defense industrial output with operational user requirements.

Looking ahead, Sr Lt Gen Nam directed the primary contractors to expedite testing, complete final integration, and clear acceptance milestones prior to handing over the artillery platforms to the Artillery-Missile Command for operational training and combat readiness. Furthermore, the units were instructed to initiate serial production documentation and collaborate with defense agencies to establish technical and logistical support standards. To enhance battlefield capability, Sr Lt Gen Nam urged further development of automated fire control and command integration for both platforms, along with parallel research into smart long-range munitions and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles to support artillery target acquisition.
