Last week, the Taiwan Army successfully employed Altius-600M systems as part of a joint live-fire exercise at the Jiupeng Military Base in southern Taiwan. Anduril’s Altius-600M demonstrated its effectiveness as an autonomous loitering munition in support of Taiwan’s combat readiness in a rapidly evolving defense technology landscape. The exercise centered on a single operator employing 2 systems against multiple maritime targets, marking another step forward in Taiwan Army’s integration of the system into its operational formation and doctrine. It builds on a previous Altius-600 live fire, executed in June, in which the Taiwan Army deployed dozens of Altius systems, and successfully hit all targets.
The latest live fire coincided with keynote remarks delivered by Anduril founder Palmer Luckey on Saturday, 19th September at the 2026 Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Summit in Taipei. The forum is hosted by the Presidential Office, exploring Taiwan’s whole-of-society preparedness and resilience, with attendance from national leaders, international government officials, domain experts, and industry. In his speech, Palmer argued “freedom is the most powerful weapon that Taiwan has” in its mission to deter conflict and maintain peace in the Taiwan Strait. He outlined a vision for national resilience, a “fortress of freedom” built on three foundations – strengthening operational resilience, building industrial resilience, and forging democratic resilience.
Establishing an Enduring Presence in Taiwan
Anduril is supporting this vision through deeper engagement in Taiwan, onboarding a diverse set of Taiwanese suppliers and growing its local workforce to support long-term capability delivery. In the past year, the company has brought more than 15 new Taiwanese companies into its global supply chain, ranging from precision machined parts, batteries, motors, electronics, and optics. Spending with local suppliers is on track to grow 15-fold this year. Concurrently, Anduril has hired Taiwanese talent to support program delivery, engineering, and sourcing.
