Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B), a worldwide designer, manufacturer and systems integrator of high-performance precision motion and fluid controls and control systems today announced that the Portuguese Army, through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) Aviation Support Office, has selected Sahar Group, LLC to deliver a modernized UH-60L Black Hawk fleet featuring Moog’s Genesys Avionics Suite™ and 4-axis autopilot system (GRC™ 4000). This selection expands Moog’s rotorcraft modernization solutions across the global Black Hawk fleet. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Fall 2026 and continue through 2028. Moog’s solution integrates proven mission-critical components designed for operational use and rapid installation including smart displays and vehicle management systems. The Genesys Avionics Suite brings a modern, mission-focused cockpit to the Black Hawk, boosting operational effectiveness across tactical, transport and search-and-rescue missions.

Matt McCall, Director of Business Development at Moog Avionics, stated: “Moog’s Genesys Avionics Suite delivers the modern, rugged, and mission-ready cockpit capabilities the Portuguese Army requires to extend Black Hawk operational life and improve mission effectiveness.”

Key benefits include:

  • Increased mission capabilities and redundancy including advanced situational awareness with Synthetic Vision, Hover-Hold, Helicopter Terrain Awareness & Warning System (HTAWS), TCAS traffic awareness, and ADS-B / FIS-B weather overlays.
  • Reduced obsolescence and sustainment costs through modern, supportable electronics including replacement of the unreliable legacy gyros, improving dispatch reliability, reducing cost of ownership, and extending fleet life.
  • Modernized operational and tactical capabilities enabled by integrated navigation, communications, and flight-management systems.
  • Reduced pilot workload and improved safety with an IFR-approved 4-axis autopilot and full engine indicating and crew alerting system integration.

The Genesys Avionics Suite™ is a complete cockpit modernization solution that combines advanced navigation, flight control, communications and display systems into an affordable, supportable retrofit package tailored for rotary‑wing military platforms. The Genesys Avionics Suite provides a fully modernized EFIS upgrade using IDU-680 smart displays replacing all standard analog gauges. Each IDU-680 features synthetic vision (SVS), built-in Flight Management System (FMS) for both navigation and communication radios, Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS), geo-referenced hover vector, and an interface to special mission systems using Genesys’ patented Open Architecture System Integration Symbology (OASIS™) toolset. The dual GPS/SBAS navigation system supports all NexGen procedures, USCG search and rescue patterns, and user-defined precision approaches. All engine instruments and master caution lights are replaced with quadruple redundant Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) display pages. The suite also replaces legacy gyros, which are prone to failure and costly to repair, with solid-state, lightweight, digital Attitude/Heading Reference System (AHRS).

Genesys Aerosystems is a leading provider of integrated avionics systems for military and civil customers. Genesys Aerosystems’ avionics systems are offered individually and integrated to provide an entire cockpit solution. Its synthetic vision Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) revolutionized safety in low-level flight operations for both fixed-wing and rotorcraft aircraft makes and models.
