Following the 10-year framework agreement with BAE Systems Bofors signed in February and the order of SEK 52 million communicated in April, another additional order has been signed for IT equipment for the Archer artillery system. The orders include computers and switches worth SEK 18 million. Deliveries will start in 2024. The orders now won are a natural continuation of the cooperation and concern additional orders for IT equipment for the toughest conditions and most challenging environments, which prevent information from being interrupted, intercepted or disrupted.
“These additional orders follow after the latest and larger order of SEK 52 million and are an expression of our increasingly close cooperation and the growing interest in the Archer artillery system,” says Daniel Ljunggren, President and CEO of MilDef Group.
The Archer artillery system, or Archer – FH77BW L52, or Artillerisystem 08, is a Swedish self-propelled howitzer system. The main piece of the system is a fully automated 155 mm L52 (52-calibre-long) gun-howitzer and a M151 Protector remote-controlled weapon station mounted on a modified 6×6 chassis of the all-terrain vehicle. The system also includes an ammunition resupply vehicle, a support vehicle, Bonus submunitions,[5] and M982 Excalibur guided projectiles. Well-designed for counter battery strike purposes, the long range and the ability to fire three shells and depart the location before the first shell lands enables the crew to perform with low risk of detection
