Dutch Shipbuilding and engineering conglomerate company Damen Group has signed a contract with the Lithuanian Defence Resources Agency under the Ministry of National Defence for the acquisition of a new ASD Tug 3010 ICE. The tug is to be delivered to the Naval Forces within nine months. The contract worth approx. EUR 10.8 million commits the manufacturer to deliver the equipment to the Lithuanian Navy in 9 months. In his turn, Commander of the Naval Flotilla RDML Giedrius Premeneckas added that the acquire harbor tug will significantly improve the ability of the Lithuanian Navy to implement its different objectives. The acquired vessel will be the first brand new ship to complement the composition of the Lithuanian Navy as opposed to all formed projects of purchasing used vessels from other NATO Allies’ navies which would be later fine-tuned to the needs of Lithuania and modernized. Tug Damen ASD 3010 ICE has a tested design and meet the needs of the Lithuanian Navy.

The hull of the ASD Tug 3010 ICE is optimized for the toughest ice conditions in harbours and open waters. Complying with the latest stability rules, the ASD Tug 3010 ICEis suited for ice breaking, ice management, winter towing and pushing and fire-fighting. The high freeboard keeps water and ice from the spacious and uncluttered deck.The ship is available in seven different variants but can be modified depending on user requirements. The vessel can accommodate up to 10 personnel and haul a maximum weight of approximately 80 tons. Its large open working deck is suitable for a variety of secondary tasks, e.g. distinguish fires, tug targets, assist with pollution efforts, etc. Damen’s ASD tugboat offers a large deck for various support tasks. Specific details of the vessel have yet to be released, but the ASD configuration measures 18.2 to 32.7 meters (59.7 to 107.2 feet) and has a fuel capacity of up to 148.3 cubic meters (39,176 gallons).
