Rohde & Schwarz is proud to announce its technological participation in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, scheduled June 26 to Aug. 2, in and around the Hawaiian Islands. With approximately 29 nations, 40 surface ships, 3 submarines, 14 national land forces, over 150 aircraft and more than 25,000 personnel participating, Rohde & Schwarz is honored to contribute its expertise in communications technology. The German Navy’s F125 Baden-Württemberg-class frigate and the Frankfurt am Main Berlin-class replenishment ship are currently deployed in the Indo-Pacific region as part of the Indo-Pacific Deployments. The German Air Force (Luftwaffe) is participating with three Eurofighters and one A400M transport aircraft. All of the above utilize Rohde & Schwarz air- and seaborne communications and maritime intelligence solutions.

The Luftwaffe is utilizing Rohde & Schwarz’ hybrid communications solution, which features a point-to-multipoint network capability. Specifically, this solution is being employed as part of CESMO (cooperative electromagnetic support measures operations), contributing to the situational awareness of naval units at sea and land-based components. The point to multipoint network capability from Rohde & Schwarz significantly enhances data throughput of aircraft, offering enhanced connectivity between manned and unmanned platforms with bandwidth higher than 10 Megabits per second. The system features Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) antennae, supported by software-defined radios.

This ensures secure, resilient, and long-range communications with all domains, while also optimized to operate in contested environments. The low signature emitted by this system compared to legacy radio systems makes it significantly harder to detect, providing a strategic advantage in the modern battlespace. Rohde & Schwarz’ point to multipoint network capability acts as a complement to VHF and UHF airborne radios. This comprehensive solution reinforces the company’s commitment to providing advanced communications technology in support of international cooperation and security.

Rohde & Schwarz is striving for a safer and connected world with its Test & Measurement, Technology Systems and Networks & Cybersecurity Divisions. For 90 years, the global technology group has pushed technical boundaries with developments in cutting-edge technologies. The company’s leading-edge products and solutions empower industrial, regulatory and government customers to attain technological and digital sovereignty. The privately owned, Munich based company can act independently, long-term and sustainably. Rohde & Schwarz generated a net revenue of EUR 2.78 billion in the 2022/2023 fiscal year (July to June).
