The Rosoboronexport company, part of the Rostec State Corporation, has announced its readiness to offer extensive services for the establishment and full equipping of airborne troops units to foreign customers, enhancing their national armed forces capabilities. Rosoboronexport’s offerings encompass the organization of parachute units, development of necessary ground infrastructure, provisioning of advanced military equipment and weapons, and comprehensive military personnel training. This initiative aims to deliver fully combat-ready airborne units to foreign armed forces, reflecting the operational efficiency of Russian airborne troops.
Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport, emphasized the strategic advantages of airborne troops: “The experience of modern military, anti-terrorism, and peacekeeping operations shows that airborne units are the most prepared tactical formations for quickly achieving goals behind enemy lines and on the front line. They successfully execute tasks such as raids to defeat enemies, seize and hold territories, and secure important facilities.”
Advanced Military Equipment for Airborne Operations
Rosoboronexport proposes equipping partner armies with cutting-edge military technology from the Russian military-industrial complex. Highlighted equipment includes:
- BMD-4M Airborne Combat Vehicle: An air-transportable, tracked amphibious combat vehicle armed with 100 mm and 30 mm cannons and a 7.62 mm machine gun. The BMD-4M accommodates a crew of three and up to seven paratroopers. Its hydropneumatic suspension adjusts ground clearance, enhancing its defensive profile.
- 2S25 Sprut-SD Self-Propelled Anti-Tank Gun: A unique light amphibious combat vehicle with firepower equivalent to the T-90MS tank. It features a 125 mm cannon, guided missile system, and 7.62 mm machine guns, capable of destroying armored targets up to 5 km away.
- BTR-MDM Armored Personnel Carrier: Designed to transport up to 13 personnel, along with ammunition and supplies. It serves multiple roles, including command and staff vehicles, mobile communication units, and medical support vehicles.
- Typhoon-K Protected Vehicle: A robust transport vehicle equipped with a 30-mm remote-controlled combat module, essential for personnel and cargo transportation in combat conditions.
- Comprehensive Parachute Systems
Rosoboronexport provides a wide array of parachute systems tailored for various missions, such as: - Dalnolet: Allows jumps from heights of up to 8,000 meters, enabling paratroopers to cover distances up to 60 km while carrying substantial payloads.
- Tandem-400: Facilitates tandem jumps or cargo drops, supporting a total flight weight of 225 kg.
Support Systems and Aircraft
Rosoboronexport ensures the deployment of airborne troops with advanced support systems:
- MKS-350-12/12M and PBS Parachute Systems: Used for landing vehicles weighing up to 20 tons.
- APSDG-250 Automated Parachute System: Ensures precise landing of cargo up to 250 kg from high altitudes.
- Il-76MD-90A(E) Military Transport Aircraft: Capable of transporting and dropping a variety of airborne military equipment. It can carry up to 126 fully equipped paratroopers and has enhanced defensive capabilities with the President-S system.
