Kraken Robotics Inc. announces that it has received an order for spares and sustainment of its KATFISH (Kraken Active Towfish) Mine Counter Measures (“MCM”) solution totalling $2.2 million. In addition, the Company received an order for AquaPix® synthetic aperture sonars (SAS) totalling $1.3 million. The KATFISH system is an advanced mine countermeasure (MCM) solution designed to provide high-speed, high-resolution seabed mapping and mine detection capabilities. These systems will be integrated to Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) from two new navy customers for use in minehunting and subsea infrastructure security applications. Both customer details cannot be disclosed. Deliveries will occur in 2024.
KATFISH™ is a high speed, actively stabilized Synthetic Aperture Sonar towfish that operates at speeds up to 10 knots. The high speed capability of KATFISH™ when compared to the slower moving ROVs or unstabilized towed sidescan sonar and AUVs, greatly increases Area Coverage Rates (ACR) therefore reducing operating time and cost. KATFISH™ provides unprecedented high-resolution ACR of 4 km/hr with 3.3 cm x 3.0 cm constant resolution across ranges up to 200 m per side with simultaneous 3D bathymetry. 1.9 cm x 2.1 cm constant resolution possible with post-processing. This system employs Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) technology to deliver ultra-high resolution imagery and 3D bathymetry.
AquaPix® improves survey results while reducing costs and saving time. It offers the highest resolution seabed pixel at the lowest cost in the industry. MINSAS is a configurable Miniature Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS). It maintains an industry-leading 1.9 x 2.1 cm constant Ultra HD resolution across the entire swath out to ranges of 200 meters per side, along with simultaneous 6 cm x 6 cm bathymetry. The SAS technology enables the KATFISH to achieve a constant resolution of 3.3 cm x 3.0 cm across ranges up to 200 meters per side. It operates effectively in various sea states and environmental conditions, up to sea state 5 when combined with the SeaScout ALARS.
