The Rostec State Corporation has supplied the Russian Ministry of Defense with a new batch of 2B11 towed mortars of 120 mm caliber. The weapon is highly reliable and effective. 2B11 has a simple and functional design with improved wheel travel. Thanks to this, the mortar can be quickly deployed to a firing position. The 2B11 is also equipped with an improved all-round firing plate. It effectively absorbs the return energy of the shot and maintains the initial position of the mortar for aimed shooting. 2B11 can fire high-explosive fragmentation, smoke, illumination and incendiary mines.

“Rostec produces a wide range of modern artillery systems and ammunition. Among them are the Malva wheeled howitzer, the modernized Msta-S and modern mortars. For example, the self-propelled “Drok”, as well as the 2B11 on wheels. These are reliable and effective weapons for hitting a wide range of targets – from manpower and lightly armored vehicles to long-term shelters at enemy strongholds,” said Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the weapons complex of the Rostec State Corporation.

The 2B11 is a 120 mm mortar developed by the Soviet Union in 1981 and subsequently fielded in the Soviet Army. The basic design for the 2B11 was taken from the classic Model 1943 120 mm mortar, and incorporated changes to make the mortar less heavy. It is a part of the 2S12 Sani. The Sani mortar system includes the 120mm 2B11 mortar, 2L81 wheeled carriage and 2F510 transport vehicle. It is being supplemented in Russia by the new 2B24 82mm mortar. The 120mm carrier mortar is designed to engage manpower located in the open or in field shelters, fire means, and light-armored targets in the near tactical area.

The Sani 120mm 2S12 carrier mortar weighs in at a manageable 230 kilograms, ensuring ease of deployment when every second counts. Even in its traveling position, accompanied by a wheeled carriage, it maintains a manageable weight of 360 kilograms, making transportation a breeze for its crew of five. The Sani 120mm 2S12 boasts impressive firepower. With a firing range spanning from a minimum of 480 meters to a maximum of 7100 meters, it covers a vast area, effectively deterring threats from afar. Furthermore, its rate of aimed fire, capped at 10 rounds per minute, ensures rapid response capabilities, allowing homeowners to maintain control of any situation.
