Indonesian state-owned defense company PT Pindad has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Terratek USA LLC at the prestigious SHOT Show 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The agreement encompasses collaboration in manufacturing, assembly, product licensing, brand partnerships, marketing, sales, and after-sales services. The event, held at the Venetian Expo & Caesars Forum, showcased a diverse array of weapons, including SS1-C, SP-1, SS Amphibious, SPR-2, SPR-4, SG-1, PM-1, and PM-3. PT Pindad, a state-owned enterprise specializing in military and commercial products, has been a key player in providing armaments and munitions to the Indonesian National Armed Forces and other uniformed agencies. Beyond the defense sector, the company also engages in the production of industrial goods for various fields, including transportation and commercial explosives.
The company traces its roots back to 1808 when Governor-General Daendels laid the foundation for materiel, munitions, and weaponry maintenance workshops in Surabaya. This marked the inception of Indonesia’s defense industry. Over the years, PT Pindad has evolved, with milestones such as the establishment of artillery workshops and naval materiel and explosives factories. Following the Dutch–Indonesian Round Table Conference in 1950, the transfer of sovereignty led to the nationalization of the military industrial firm, eventually becoming PT Pindad. PT Pindad proudly emphasizes its track record of producing accurate and resilient weapons since its establishment in 1983. The company’s achievements extend to international shooting competitions such as the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM), the Australian Army of Skill Arms at Meeting (AASAM) and the Brunei International Skill at Army Meet (BISAM), showcasing the global recognition of its products.
