On December 14, the keel was laid for the first joint project of ABEKING & RASMUSSEN and FASSMER, a 105 m hydrographic vessel. Following the recent successful delivery of two minehunting vessels to the Indonesian Navy, A&R was also commissioned to build the new hydrographic vessel in December last year. As the ship concept is based on a proven design by FASSMER, the project was handled jointly from the beginning. While A&R, as general contractor, is responsible for the customer’s requirements in terms of delivery, local value creation and transfer of technology, FASSMER is responsible for the design and construction of the vessel. The new build will carry out various research activities in the world’s largest archipelago state. It is also suitable for strengthening SAR capabilities in Indonesian and international waters. The customer is the Indonesian Institute of Hydrography “Bantu Hidro-Oseanografi” (BHO). The ship is operated by the Indonesian Navy. Delivery is scheduled for December 2025. The good cooperation between the two family-owned shipyards is the basis for continuing to jointly offer selected projects for the German and international markets.

The Indonesian Navy had commissioned two cutting-edge mine countermeasures vessels (MCMVs), KRI Pulau Fani (731) and KRI Pulau Fanildo (732). This pivotal event took place on August 14, 2023 at the 2nd Fleet Command Headquarters in Surabaya, East Java. Derived from the reputable Frankenthal-class, the Fani-class MCMVs are a testament to advanced naval engineering and international collaboration. Valued at US$204 million, this system incorporates Synapsis NX navigation and bridge systems, as well as the SYNTACS command and control system. These advanced components work in harmony with a state-of-the-art mine-hunting sonar and unmanned vehicles, enabling precision, safety, and efficiency at every stage of a mission.
