EODH, a Greek defense manufacturer, has solidified its collaboration with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), a key player in European defense, by securing a significant contract. This deal involves the production of protective modules for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. This agreement not only strengthens the ongoing partnership between major European defense manufacturers but also marks a significant milestone in bolstering the defense capabilities of the Puma. With 350 units already operational or in the process of delivery to the Bundeswehr, the recent addition of 50 more vehicles in May 2023 underscores the growing importance and demand for enhanced protection modules.EODH’s role in this contract encompasses the provision of modules for the additional 50 Puma vehicles, with the potential for an extension to another 50 units. The company’s expertise isn’t confined solely to the Puma project. EODH’s track record in manufacturing protection modules for various military assets, including the Leopard 2 and Dingo, has been noteworthy. Currently, they have completed deliveries for Hungarian Leopard 2A7 tanks and commenced production for Norwegian Leopard 2A7 NOR tanks, with options for further units. Aside from their involvement in the Puma initiative, EODH is actively engaged in supplying protection modules for the GTK Boxer 8×8, a venture supported by the British Army. Their commitment to this project, covering 500 vehicles initially, began in 2021. Concurrently, EODH introduced the Hoplite (4×4) armored vehicle in the same year and is exploring partnerships with multiple nations displaying interest in this offering. In response to the escalating demand for their expertise and products, EODH is set to expand its production capacity by a staggering 300%. This expansion involves the construction of a second manufacturing facility, slated for operation by 2024, alongside augmented storage capabilities.

The Puma is a German infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) designed to replace the aging Marder IFVs currently in service with the German Army. Production of the first batch of 350 vehicles began in 2010 and was completed in August 2021. A second batch of 229 Pumas received funding. Mass production began on 6 July 2009. The companies responsible for this project are Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall Landsysteme, which created a joint venture, Projekt System Management GmbH (PSM). The Puma is one of the world’s best-protected IFVs, while still having a high power-to-weight ratio. The most obvious of these is the incorporated ability to flexibly mount different armour. The primary armament is a Rheinmetall 30 mm MK 30-2/ABM (Air Burst Munitions) autocannon, which has a rate of fire of 200 rounds per minute and an effective range of 3,000 m. To combat main battle tanks, helicopters, and infrastructure targets such as bunkers, the German Puma vehicles will be equipped with a turret-mounted EuroSpike Spike LR missile launcher, which carries two missiles.
