The Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) has unveiled a range of new indigenously developed, locally produced, or modernized weapons and military equipment. This impressive arsenal, showcased at the SAF’s Weapons and Military Equipment Test Centre ‘Nikinci’ on 14 November, reflects the Serbian government’s commitment to modernizing the SAF and safeguarding the nation’s security. The newly acquired equipment encompasses a diverse array of combat systems, including a series of 4×4 Miloš armored combat vehicles, BOV OT armored personnel carriers, and modernized BVP M-80AB1 infantry fighting vehicles. These vehicles will provide enhanced protection and mobility for Serbian troops, enabling them to operate effectively in a variety of terrains and combat scenarios.

Further strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces’s defensive capabilities are the PASARS anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery-missile systems. These advanced systems will bolster Serbia’s air defense capabilities, safeguarding its airspace from aerial threats. Additionally, logistics vehicles for the 155 mm NORA self-propelled howitzer will ensure the smooth and efficient deployment of this powerful artillery system. The SAF’s infantry arsenal has also received a significant upgrade with the introduction of M20 6.5/7.62 mm modular automatic machine guns, 40/6 revolver-type grenade launchers, and EZ-9 pistols. These versatile weapons will provide Serbian soldiers with enhanced firepower and accuracy, enabling them to engage adversaries with greater effectiveness.

The Serbian Armed Forces’s modernization drive extends to the realm of ammunition as well, with the introduction of various types of newly produced infantry and artillery ammunition. These advancements will ensure that Serbian troops have access to a reliable supply of high-performance ammunition to meet the demands of modern warfare. The Serbian Armed Forces’s commitment to modernization is further exemplified by its recent acquisition of up-armored M1151A1B1 Humvee vehicles. These vehicles, equipped with locally produced 12.7 mm machine guns or 40 mm grenade launchers, offer enhanced protection and firepower, making them well-suited for a variety of missions.

The Serbian Armed Forces ‘s modernization efforts are not limited to ground-based assets. The force is also in the process of acquiring the CH-95 reconnaissance and attack drone from China. This medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAV will significantly enhance the Serbian Armed Forces ‘s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, providing commanders with critical information on the battlefield. The Serbian Armed Forces ‘s acquisition of new equipment is a clear indication of its resolve to modernize and strengthen its capabilities. This modernization drive will play a crucial role in deterring aggression, safeguarding Serbia’s sovereignty, and ensuring its ability to defend its territorial integrity.
