Vegvisir conducted a live product demo in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense Croatia and the Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Croatian Army, 1st Mechanized Battalion “Tigers”. The company introduced the current product prototype, recent developments and results from field tests so far. The demonstration was attended by Croatian Minister of Defense Mario Banožic, along with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Siniša Jurkovic and Commander of the Croatian Army General Boris Šeric. The cooperation with the Ministry of Defense Croatia has proven the interest for the Vegvisir system and is a great example of the focus on end-user. The feedback from end-users and various industry experts during the exhibition confirmed that thecompany are on the right track on the path of enhancing situational awareness.

The field test of Vegvisir’s Mixed Reality Situational Awareness System (MRSAS) integration with the Patria AMV 8×8 was a subsequent step following the previous tests conducted with the Estonian Defense Forces, which involved the armored personnel carrier Patria XA-188 6×6, Patria XA-180 6×6 and the infantry fighting vehicle CV-9035. This follows Vegvisir platform agnostic approach which allows the situational awareness system to be installed on various platforms. In total, the company have done integrations with 4 different armoured vehicles. Vegvisir conducted testing on gravel roads that were in such rough condition that they were not suitable for civilian vehicles. In total, Patria AMV drove approximately 12 hours in off-road conditions at speeds up to 60km/h.

During the second part of testing, unit commanders from various tank and mechanized units had the opportunity to try the system. Altogether, around 30 people were able to use the system and provide valuable feedback to Vegvisir team. The development of the Vegvisir situational awareness system relies heavily on the end-user feedback. The company were happy to see a large delegation of representatives from the Croatian Ministry of Defense and Croatian Army. The Vegvisir team marks a significant presence at ASDA and successful field tests with the Croatian Ministry of Defense.

Defensphere OÜ was founded in January 2021 by eight founders from Estonia and Croatia who were all experienced professionals and experts either in the military, defence industry, government, FPV drone business, military camera business, engineering, international business development and in the startup world. The original idea of the Vegvisir system was developed by the founders with military backgrounds who had been stuck themselves in armoured vehicles in the middle of the battles in Afghanistan and other military deployments. Back then they heavily missed technical tools that would help them out in their problem. Eight founders then decided to develop the Vegvisir system by combining the military requirements with the technical expertise from the ultra low latency based FPV drone business.
