The Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) reported that Czech Army tankers are doing their first rounds with the German Army Leopard 2A4 mian battle tank. Specifically, NATO member states are providing Ukraine with Soviet-era heavy equipment in exchange for readily available Western military systems. The Czech military has 30 T-72M4CZ tanks, which are upgraded versions of the Russian workhorse T-72, and had an additional 89 T-72 tanks in storage at the start of the year. Czechoslovakia was an important part of the eastern bloc’s defence industry, giving it expertise that has latterly enabled it to play a role in providing equipment to Ukraine. The T-72M4CZ had long been one of the best T-72 upgrades in the world but unlike the Polish PT-91, hasn’t been a commercial success. The only user of this tank is the Czech Army. Between 2003 and 2006, 30 tanks were produced.

The Leopard 2 is a 3rd generation main battle tank originally developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s for the West German Army. Various versions have served in the armed forces of Germany and 13 other European countries, as well as several non-European nations, including Canada, Chile, Indonesia and Singapore. Leopard 2A4 is the most widespread version of the Leopard 2 family. The Leopard 2A4s were manufactured in eight batches between 1985 and 1992. The Bergepanzer 3 Buffel (Buffalo) armored recovery vehicle was developed by Rheinmetall. It is based on the Leopard 2 chassis and is fitted with powerful recovery system.
