Bulgarian defense company Transmobile has developed what the company describes as a “niversal silent system” for launching mines and grenades. The company’s COPSIS SL is not the only ‘silent’ system of this type available, with examples including the FLY-K MkII and 2B25 82 mm mortars. The COPSIS SL differs in that it uses the RPG-7 series of projectiles modified for firing from the specially developed spigot launcher. Upon firing, an encapsulated piston impacts and transfers energy to the projectile, and all propellant gases and derived smoke and noise are retained internally making the launch signature effectively ‘silent’. Transmobile displayed the COPSIS SL at Eurosatory 2022 in Paris, but did not disclose how it functions.
The universal silent system “COPSIS SL” is used for: fireless launching of mines and grenades aiming to destroy or bring out of operation the live force of the enemy, transportation means including armored vehicles, placed in the open or behind light field shelters, also on the back slopes of forest areas and specialized operations requiring covert and surprising action. The universal silent system “COPSIS SL” provides; the possibility to use of diverse by its meaning ammunition like mines and grenades, including fragmentation, smoke, cumulative, thermobaric, illuminating, radio-jamming, tear-gas and other rounds, providing the ability to fire by straight shot or using ballistic curve.
