In the framework of the official visit of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron to Kyiv on February 8, a Statement of Cooperation has been signed between Ukroboronprom State Concern and the French international company Thales International S.A.S, which is part of the Thales Group. The parties are considering the development of industrial cooperation between the two groups. Thales Group is an international industrial group that is one of the world leaders in aviation, space, defense, security, and transport.

“Today’s step is a continuation of joint agreements with our French partners, which had been reached in May 2021, during my working visit to Paris at the invitation of the French authorities,” General Director of Ukroboronprom Yuriy Husyev said.

Ukroboronprom (UOP) is an association of multi-product enterprises (conglomerate or concern) in various sectors of the defense industry of Ukraine. The Concern includes enterprises that operate in the development, manufacture, sale, repair, modernization, and disposal of weapons, military, and special equipment, and ammunition and participating in military-technical cooperation with foreign states. Ukroboronprom is currently under state reform and expected to cease to exist and reform into the main two holdings of Defense Holding and Aerospace Holding within 2021.

Thales Group is a French multinational company that designs and builds electrical systems and provides services for the aerospace, defence, transportation and security markets. The company is headquartered in Paris’ business district, La Défense and its stock is listed on the Euronext Paris. The company changed its name to Thales (from the Greek philosopher Thales, pronounced reflecting its pronunciation in French) from Thomson-CSF in December 2000 shortly after the acquisition of Racal Electronics, a UK defence electronics group. It is partially state-owned by the French government, and has operations in more than 56 countries.
