Following on from its previous order for 879 all-wheel drive CF Military trucks, the Belgian Defence has placed a new order at DAF for 9 heavy tractor/trailer combinations for the safe and swift recovery of vehicles in zones of operations and conflict. The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in 2024. The order is for complete combinations consisting of four-axle and all-wheel driven CF Military tractors and thee-axle, extendable flatbed semi-trailers from Broshuis. The tractors will be fitted with a state-of-the-art armoured cab that offers maximum protection to the occupants when transporting and evacuating vehicles during military operations.
“We are very proud to have received this second order from the Belgian Defence,” says Harry Wolters, president of DAF Trucks. “It is further proof that DAF is also capable of providing advanced transport solutions for military applications. We look forward to making the unique quality of DAF CF Military trucks available to other armed forces as well in the future.”
DAF is working closely with the renowned TATRA TRUCKS in the Czech Republic. This results in a unique chassis concept with a world-class driveline, central backbone tube and independent suspension of half-axles. This offers the CF Military unequalled off-road capabilities and exceptional driver comfort, even on the most challenging terrain. The recovery vehicles ordered by the Belgian Defence will be powered by the 12.9 litre PACCAR MX-13 engine with an output of 340 kW/460 hp. The state-of-the-art armoured cabins will be supplied by TATRA DEFENCE VEHICLES using components from the cabs of the DAF CF series produced in Belgium.
Defence and DAF will take care of the maintenance of the CF Military combinations in close collaboration, in which the professional DAF dealer network in Belgium plays a crucial role. The DAF dealer network with more than 1,100 locations worldwide is available for maintenance outside the Belgian borders, as is the unparalleled DAF ITS road side assistance service. The DAF dealer organization can count on the support of PACCAR Parts for market-leading parts availability. The new order by the Belgian Defence follows on a previous order earlier this year for the delivery of 879 4×4 and 8×8 vehicles between 2022 and 2025.
